God is Still Working Miracles!

God is Still Working Miracles!

Me at Pearl Harbor

I just have to share this miracle that happened on my trip to Hawaii last week. My very good friend and I arrived in Honolulu, rented a car, and drove to the hotel. After taking our bags out of the car, my friend started frantically looking through his little wind-breaker jacket. I asked him what was wrong and he said he lost something. I said what did you lose and he said “money.” When I asked him how much, too my surprise, it was A LOT of money. Not the amount of money you wouldn’t carry around in a windbreaker unless they were traveler’s checks. It was the money he was going to use for the trip.

Well to say the least, this was upsetting news. Then he told me while he was at baggage claim, (I was in the bathroom) that a man came up to him and asked him if he lost anything. Not realizing he had lost the money he said “No.” Now putting two and two together, this man probably found the money and was looking for the owner. My friend, needless to say was very upset.

On the way up to our hotel rooms I told him that we were not going to let this ruin our trip. That God knew this was going to happen and that even if we have to do everything free, we are going to have a fabulous time. In fact, I said that I believed that our trip would be just as wonderful as if we had spent every penny that he lost. When we got to the room we actually prayed about the money and we were determined to let it go. I told my friend about a testimony I heard by Joel Osteen about a lady who had lost her expensive wedding ring at the beach only to step on it several days later in the sand. We declared that the devil intended this for evil but God would turn it around for our highest good.

Well, I have to admit that my friend did a very good job of letting it go. I also encouraged him to check the lost and found at the airport because it sounded like the man who found the money might have turned it in since he was actually asking people about it. My friend called everyday, but only got a recording and no one even called him back.

On our day of the departure, my friend said he was going to try one last time. He asked someone how to get to Lost and Found and they told him it was about 49 gates away. I waited at our gate while he walked down there.  He returned about 20 minutes later saying that no one was there and that everyone kept giving him the run around. They even gave him the same phone number that he had been calling all week with no avail.

We had about 20 minutes to board the plane and my friend said he wanted to get something from Starbucks but thought he didn’t have time. I said, sure you do, so we walked down to Starbucks and waited in the line. We got our drinks and were walking out of the coffee shop when my friend spotted the man who had asked him if he had lost anything the day we arrived at the airport. He was standing in the same Starbucks line!!! My friend told him that he had lost the money and the man said that he turned the money in. In fact, he gave us the name of the airline’s general manager. Then he went with us to the airline desks and told what had happened and the airline took all my friend’s information and told him they would mail him a check for the amount of the money he lost.

The general manager was so elated that the man was honest and turned the money in that she had given him a free flight and upgraded it as well. The man said that he had no intention of keeping that money because he didn’t want that kind of karma coming back to haunt him.

So what can I say, we had the best trip ever and God still gave my friend the money back. In fact, I don’t think the trip could have been any better if we had had it. We learned two lessons, 1) Please don’t put large sums of money in wind-breakers! 2) Have faith in God and He will see you through. My friend was so excited, and so was I, that we just couldn’t stop talking about it.  All I have to say is, “Look at God!”

Praise God for miracles because this truly was one! Thank you Jesus!

Delight Yourself in the Lord

How to Get Your Prayers Answered

Delight Yourself in the Lord

Delight Yourself in the Lord

Psalms 37:4 declares, “Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.”  What better way to receive what we want, than to receive it as a gift from the Lord for putting our trust in him. When we don’t trust God to meet our needs or fulfill our desires then we go on a desperate search to do it for ourselves. By doing this we miss out on what God wants to give us freely and easily and instead spend countelss time striving to make things happen. However, striving doesn’t guarantee success. Often the very thing we strive for alludes us. A perfect example is when the disciples were fishing all night and caught nothing at all. Then Jesus comes along and tells them to drop their net on the other side of the boat and there were so many fish that they had to give some away.

When we delight ourselves in the Lord, when we spend time with Him, when we fellowship with God and quiet our minds, we put ourselves in the position to hear the still small voice of the Lord. It only takes one directive from God to turn our whole world around.

The Bible says that the blessings of God come without sorrow. When we allow God to bless us, we don’t have to worry about holding onto the blessing either. And if by chance we lose it, we don’t have to fret because if our confidence is in God, he can do it again.

Yet when we make our own way prosperous, instead of letting God increase us, the onus is always going to be on us to maintain it.

Proverbs says, better is a little with peace than riches with anxiety, worry, and fear.  And unless the Lord builds a house (wealth, success, prosperity) those who build it labor in vain. God doesn’t want us to be like the unbelievers who spend his or her life and efforts to accumulate. Jesus told us in… a man’s life does not consist of what he possesses. God wants us to pursue those treasures in heaven where moths and rust do not corrupt or where thieves do not break in and steal. Instead, God wants to make it easy for his children. All we have to do is delight ourselves in him, pursue him, love him, and he will bless us with enough that we won’t have room to store it.

You Already Have Everything You Need to Succeed

You Already Have Everything You Need to Succeed

babyHow can you change what you believe when the experiences you have had has convinced you otherwise? The simple answer to that is to create a new experience. The best way for you to get that new experience is to meditate about how you can change the way you respond to what happens. The new response will create new results, which you will then experience it as a new reality.

To reach your goal of peace, joy, and contentment, you have to act as though the following statement is true: Everything that happens to me is the best possible thing that can happen to me or as the Bible states, “God is working out all things for my highest good.” Meditating on God as well as the scriptures may not turn a bad situation into a good one right way, but it will change how you see and react to it, thus planting the seed for change. Acting as though what happens to you is the best possible thing that can happen to you often results in surrendering everything to God which creates  peace and joy  in your life.

Ten Ways to Attract More of What You Want Immediately

  1. Stop assuming there’s no way to find out how to get more business, please your clients or employees, or get someone to go earn you business?”
  2. Stop numbing our body with alcohol, cigarettes, food, shopping, reading, activity, exercise, sex…whatever it is you use. Start feeling what you feel when you feel it. Ask, “What am I feeling now? How can I just feel that feeling and get its message? Once you’ve felt it, move on.
  3. Stop forcing things that aren’t working and appreciate the perfection of the situation. The “stop” you’ve encountered may be halting your forward progress to save you from driving over a cliff up ahead!
  4. Stop blaming the other person for an interpersonal problem and start looking at your role in the conflict. Ask, “How can I use this opportunity to strengthen my communication and compassion?” It’s probably NOT all your fault but that doesn’t mean you can’t solve it and learn from it by looking at yourself.
  5. Listen to your own “inexplicable urges” (the non-destructive ones, at least!)…Like that voice that tells you to look up your old buddy from junior high. Find him or her on the internet. These unconscious urges are serendipity trying to happen.

Allowing the Love & Blessings of God to Overtake You

Allowing the Love & Blessings of God to Overtake You

waterfallLast week I wrote a post about intention and created a list of intentions that I read each morning. But lately during my quiet meditation time with God, I sense God taking my heart and thoughts in a new direction.  I believe the Lord is tell me we all have great intentions, dreams, desires, and goals, so the problem isn’t knowing what we want, the issue is “allowing”  God to bless us with these things.  Too often we become the pursurer of what we want instead of becoming a pursurer of God, who declares, seek ME first and I will give us ALL things.

Liv’in Up Your Christmas with These Holiday Traditions

Christmas Eve Traditions Make Memories

As the mom of three now grown daugthers and a grandson, each year I tried to create fun and memorable traditions or rituals that would create memories to last a life time. Even though the kids are up and out of the house, we still try to keep these traditions alive. Every Christmas Eve we baked and decorated sugar cookies and drank hot chocolate while watching Christmas movies. After waking up early and opening gifts we created a great Christmas feast that included homemade biscuits or waffles with strawberries on top. Well this year is not different. Below are some links I found that includes some really great ideas for making your Christmas extra special this year.

Living without Fear Means Walking in Faith

I think if I was standing in the presence of God and he would grant me “one” request as I fulfill my days on the earth, I would ask, “Lord, grant me the ability to live my life free from fear.  Fear of what you might ask.

Fear of failure

Fear of loss

Fear of looking stupid

Fear of saying the wrong thing

Fear of taking risks

Fear of lack or poverty

Fear of disease or bad health

Fear of accidents or injury

Fear of making the wrong decision

Fear of the future

Fear of losing loved ones

Fear of not getting my needs met

Fear of ANYTHING that robs me of living with God’s PEACE, JOY, and CONTENTMENT every minute of everyday.

Now looking at that list you might think, Wow, she’s just a fireball of fear.  But that simply isn’t true.   I think if we’re being honest we all suffer from feelings of fear every now and then; some of us more frequently than others.
