Allowing the Love & Blessings of God to Overtake You

February 16, 2010 By: Rhonda Category: Abundance, Peace, Purpose & Direction, Uncategorized

waterfallLast week I wrote a post about intention and created a list of intentions that I read each morning. But lately during my quiet meditation time with God, I sense God taking my heart and thoughts in a new direction.  I believe the Lord is tell me we all have great intentions, dreams, desires, and goals, so the problem isn’t knowing what we want, the issue is “allowing”  God to bless us with these things.  Too often we become the pursurer of what we want instead of becoming a pursurer of God, who declares, seek ME first and I will give us ALL things.  (more…)

Lord Change Me: Surrendering to Jesus

January 25, 2010 By: Contributor Category: Christian Meditation, Purpose & Direction, Uncategorized

 Lord Change Me
By Guest Writer, Gary Skinner

It all began 10 years ago. On the floor. On my face. I was lying with my arms up over my head and my nose planted firmly in the carpet.

“Well, Lord, I was told today at church that if I would get on my face and worship You, I could find some answers . . . that I could connect with You . . . that You would change me. Is this what they meant?”

My nose was beginning to get a little rug burned so I turned my head and let my cheek rest on the floor. I continued to lay there for almost two hours. You see, I was desperate. My history was more than a little embarrassing. I was 40 years old and here’s what I had to show for it: a divorce, a bankruptcy, a lost business, $500,000 of debt, and the prestige of being a convicted felon. It’s true that I now was married to a wonderful woman and had some great friends. But the shame of my past still dominated my thoughts.

My list of atrocities did not happen overnight. I strung them out over a 22—year period. What’s interesting is that during those years I consistently read my Bible, went to church or Bible studies, prayed, and openly spoke about my love for and commitment to God. Yet I was a mess. A terrible disciple of Jesus Christ. So, in many ways, lying on my face that day was a “retreat.” I had retreated into God’s presence to lay down my old life—and, hopefully, emerge with something new. (more…)

How to Create a Meditation Prayer Room or Quiet Space in Your Home

January 25, 2010 By: Contributor Category: Uncategorized

creating a meditation prayer room  by Guest Writer Lynnis Woods Mullins

Having a quiet place within your home where you can go and meditate, pray, write in your journal, and just have quiet time is important. If you have some extra space in your house or an actual room you can use, try some of these ideas to create your “safe haven” of peace and tranquility.

Things You’ll Need:

  • space within your home that will allow for quite time
  • a spare room you can use
  • candles
  • chair
  • pillows and throws
  • personal items that have significance to you
  • a small table
  • CD player
  • your favorite books on personal development, prayer, meditation, poetry, or other books that bring you a sense of peace
  • shelf for your books
  • plant

1.      A comfortable chair or small sofa is inviting and relaxing.  Select a comfortable chair or an easy chair to place in the room or space you have identified. If you have room a small sofa is always nice to have in the room for lounging or even a quick doze. The furniture you place in this room should be comfortable for reading and journaling also. Developing a Closer Relationship with God Takes More Than Going to Church

January 23, 2010 By: Rhonda Category: Uncategorized

developing a closer relationship with godMy love affair with God is growing and growing. Although my new love for God started in church almost 20 years ago, it wasn’t until God separated me unto himself and took me through a desert experience that I began not to just know of God, but truly experience Him on a personal level.

As new or immature believers in Christ, our walk is generally characterized by what we do for God. Although the gift of salvation is free, it’s hard for our natural minds to comprehend that we can get something for nothing. Our church leaders also weight us down with a litany of what good Christians do. Good Christians never miss a Sunday Service, attend weekly bible study, volunteer in several ministries, read their Bibles everyday, and the list goes on. As a result, when we fail to meet these standards, guilty feelings surface and fear sets in. We may even question whether we are saved.

The irony is that going to church doesn’t necessarily constitute a relationship with God just as not going to church suggests a lack of one. The first time I stopped going to church I was guilt-ridden. I must be in a back-slidden condition I ponderedt, although my heart was just as devoted to God as ever.  Scriptures like, “do not forsake the assembling of yourselves together,” surely meant I was on my way to hell. Yet at that time in my life going to church left me feeling empty. It was just a weekly ritual, a habit that I had been doing for years and I was tired of putting myself through its misery. (more…)

Christian Meditation: Teaching Children About God

August 15, 2009 By: Rhonda Category: Uncategorized

As Christian adults we may have come to embrace the practice of Christian meditation into our daily lives but lets not forget the impact this practice can have on children of all ages.

Christian meditation and learning to be still before God can teach children patience, how to experience God, how to quiet their minds, and how to control the types of thoughts they think. It can empower them to take more control over their lives by teaching them that their thoughts become their realities and if they want to attract good and positive outcomes it begins with what is going on in their heads.

Through Christian meditation, as well as positive scripture affirmations, we can teach our children about God’s love, power, and purpose in for their lives. We can also build up and keep their self esteem high when they hear messages like, I am important to God, I am created in God’s image, I have a purpose in life, or With faith and patience I can do anything. Spiritual Warfare: Deliverance of Unclean Spirits Prayer

August 15, 2009 By: Rhonda Category: Uncategorized, spiritual warfare

Although a Christian and disciple of God cannot be possessed by a demon or unclean spirit, we can be heavily influenced by them. When we don’t restrain our mind and thoughts we open the door to spiritual influence that can create spiritual strongholds that completely debiliate us and steal God’s peace and joy right out of our lives and hearts. In these two videos I use Mark 5 to discuss these spiritual influences and in part 2 I take you through the Deliverance from Unclean Spirit Prayer that is in my ebook, 18 Weeks to Greater Peace, Joy, and Intimacy with God. If you or anyone you know is tormented by destructive thoughts and ungodly habits, please encourage them to watch these videos.

My Farewell to the King of Pop…Michael Accepts Jesus Christ

June 26, 2009 By: Rhonda Category: Uncategorized

I received an email today asking if I planned to blog on the death of pop legend Michael Jackson.  Like many others, I watched the news casts lauded his work as well as questioning his eccentricity over the years.  Yes,  Michael at times left many people puzzled but at the core of his spirit, he was a musical genius, a kind-hearted soul, and a generous giver.  I grew up right at the time of the Jackson 5 debut and immediately became a Jackson admirer. Actually I flipped flopped between Micheal and Marlon.  In fact, I still have the love  letter I wrote to him that my parents never mailed pasted in a scrap book.  I love watching the videos of Michael in the earlier days of his career. He was so cute, then handsome, and full of energy and enthusiasm.  He had a charisma that you couldn’t deny.  As his inner demons magnified it took toll on his appearance as he tried to change his insides by changing his outsides.  But that’s not really how I remember Michael even today.  Michael presence had a profound effect on the lives of billions of people. It is said that Michael Jackson donated to over 300 million dollars to charities over his lifetime.  Click this link to see the list of the many he blessed both financially and with love. I pray for his family that God would ease their pain and heal their hearts.  Also, I read an article this week that stated that 3 weeks ago Sandra and Andre Crouch led Michael to the Lord, an excerpt from articles says, ““Last night we received some good news from Terri McFaddin-Solomon who is good friends with Sandra Crouch. Three weeks ago Sandra and Andre’ spent some time with their close friend, Michael Jackson. Michael asked Andre` to play, “It Won’t Be Long And We’ll Be Leaving Here.” Michael then prayed with Sandra and Andre and accepted Christ into his heart. Now he’s singing in the heavenly choir.! Our hearts rejoice!” You can read the full article at http://spiritualminded.ning.com/profiles/blogs/three-weeks-ago-michael?xgs=1

To Those of You Born 1930 – 1983

by Jay Leno (I think)

TO ALL THE KIDS WHO SURVIVED THE 1930’s, 40’s, 50’s, 60’s and 70’s!!

First, we survived being born to mothers who smoked and/or drank while they were pregnant.
They took aspirin, ate blue cheese dressing, tuna from a can and didn’t get tested for diabetes.

Then after that trauma, we were put to sleep on our tummies in baby cribs covered with bright colored lead-base paints.
We had no childproof lids on medicine bottles, locks on doors or cabinets and when we rode our bikes, we had baseball caps not helmets on our heads.
As infants & children, we would ride in cars with no car seats, no booster seats, no seat belts, no air bags, bald tires and sometimes no brakes. (more…)
